Enemies ========== Note the first level of appearance for the enemies are on the skill level "Ultra Violence". Zombiemen: One of your most basic, standard, most weakest enemies in the game. They are small soldiers who used to be former marines of your own kind. They fire small pistol bullets at you for attacking. You can use pretty much any weapon to get rid of them. First found in level 1: Hangar. These are pretty weak to fight, but they may be a little pain if they are in big groups. In Doom II, these are first found in Level 31: Entryway. Shotgun Guys: Just like the Zombiemen, except these are slightly stronger and better with their weapons. They carry around Shotguns and fire at you to attack. These Shotguns can do a lot of damage at you, especially on high skill levels. To get rid of Shotgun Guys, use any weapon to get rid of them, as they are still pretty weak. First Found in Level 1: Hangar. You can also find these easily in dark rooms because they glow for a split second when they fire their weapon, making them easy to spot. In Doom II, these are first found in Level 32: Underhalls. Heavy Weapon Dudes: Even worse than a Zombieman and Shotgun Guy combined. These people carry around Chainguns and they fire it at you when they attack. If you just stand in front of them and do nothing, their Chaingun will wear you down very fast. Any weapon but the Pistol can knock them out in one hit, so don't hesitate to use one of those weapons. These are very common in the game, especially on harder skill levels. Found in Level 1: Hangar. In Doom II, these are first found in Level 33: The Gantlet. Imp: About the size of a Shotgun Guy. Imps are small, brown monsters who walk around on two feet. To attack you, they shoot out a fireball at far distances. But if you are up close, they will scratch you. Their attacks are pretty weak, so don't worry. Use any weapon but the Pistol or Fist (unless you have a Berserk), and they should be taken down in one hit. Found in plenty of the levels during the game. First found in Level 1: Hangar. Just watch out if these are in large groups. In Doom II, these are first found in Level 31: Entryway. Demon: One of the first actual "Demons" you will see in the game. They are pink "bulls" who run around on two legs. On harder skill levels, their bite, which is their only way of attacking, can hurt really badly. To kill these enemies, stay at a far distance and use pretty much any weapon. If you are up close, a Chaingun or a Chainsaw can take them down easily, and they shouldn't be able to attack either. First found in Level 3: Toxin Refinery. In Doom II, these are first found in Level 32: Underhalls. Spectre: Almost the same exact thing as a Demon. Instead, Spectres are nearly invisible, as they are gray and blurry, but you can still see them easily, but watch out in dark areas. They bite at you for attacking, and it can hurt badly on harder skill levels. To get rid of them easily, use any weapon and if you are up close, use a Chaingun or a Chainsaw to take them down in no time, and they shouldn't be able to attack either. First found in Level 2: Plant. In Doom II, these are first found in Level 34: The Focus. Nightmare Spectre: Like the Spectre, but darker, and much harder to kill. Use at least a Super Shotgun to take these down. They are also more powerful than the Demon/Spectre. These are a blue-ish black color to tell them apart from the other Demons. They are faster as well and they can take up to several shows with a Shotgun. First found in Level 5: Phobos Lab. I don't remember seeing these anywhere in the Doom II levels. Lost Soul: Probably the most annoying enemy at the game. You'll know them when you see them. Fine, I'll tell you. They are small enemies that are on fire and they also fly around in the air. Most of the time they appear in groups, and they will come out of the mouth of a Pain Elemental. They attack you by backing up and then charging right at you, which can be annoying, especially when you are up close to them. To get rid of them, use anything but a Pistol, Fist, or Chainsaw and they will go down quickly. First found in Level 1: Hangar. In Doom II, these are first found in Level 35: The Waste Tunnels. Cacodemon: A really popular enemy, it seems. Just like the Lost Souls, these enemies fly around in the air. They are big, red, have one eye, and a big mouth. They have two methods of attacking you. They can open their mouth up and shoot a fireball at you, and theirs is pretty strong. Their other attack is when you are up close, they can bit at you, which can hurt a LOT. The best weapons to use against them are the Chaingun and Chainsaw, and if you use those, they won't have a chance to attack you. First found in level 9: Deimos Anomaly. In Doom II, these are first found in Level 35: The Waste Tunnels. Hell Knight: A big step up from all of the other enemies. Like pretty much most other enemy, they walk on two legs, and have two methods of attacking you. They are tall and have a light color on their body as well. They can shoot a green fireball at you to attack, or if you're up close, they will scratch you. Either attack can hurt a LOT on hard skill levels. To get rid of them, 3 rockets from a Rocket Launcher or 3 Shells from a Super Shotgun can get rid of them easily. But a Plasma Gun and BFG are effective as well. First found in Level 9: Deimos Anomaly. In Doom II, these are first found in Level 35: The Waste Tunnels. Baron of Hell: Just when you thought the Hell Knights were bad enough. To find the difference between the Hell Knight and a Baron of Hell, Barons of Hell have a slightly darker body (they have dark pink, while Hell Knights have a bright color). Just like the Hell Knight, their two methods of attacking are using a fireball and scratching you up close, but these hurt a LOT more than the Hell Knights. They are also tougher, so they won't go down easy. Use a Rocket Launcher, Plasma Gun, or BFG to take them down, otherwise be prepared for a long fight. First found in Level 8: Phobos Anomaly. In Doom II, these can be first found in Level 38: Tricks and Traps. Arachnotron: Well, there's always something new to look forward to. Has your fear for spiders increased now? These are spiders that walk around and when they see you, they will fire green cells at you, identical to the ones you fire from your Plasma Gun. They shouldn't be a problem if you are good at dodging. Almost any weapon can get rid of these enemies, except from the Pistol, Fist, or Chainsaw. 3 shots from a Rocket Launcher or Super Shotgun will get rid of them in a fluke. First found in Level 11: Refinery. In Doom II, these can be first found in Level 37: Dead Simple. Pain Elemental: You may think these are the most annoying enemies in the game, but the Lost Souls can knock out any enemy in that game. They are almost like the Cacodemon. They are big, they fly, and have one eye. They are also brown and they don't attack you. What they do is that they shoot Lost Souls out of their mouths and the Lost Souls go and directly attack you. Once they get killed, 3 Lost Souls will appear after they explode, unless it explodes at a nearby wall (where a Lost Soul may get stuck in the wall). To kill them easily, 1 BFG shot will do the trick. Otherwise, 3 rockets or 3 Super Shotgun Shells will finish them off easily. Surprisingly if you play the first level of the game on Ultra Violence skill, you will find this enemy in a secret area. In Doom II, these are first found in Level 38: Tricks and Traps. Revenants: For being annoying, Revenants are right behind the Lost Souls in that category. They are skeleton like enemies who have two methods of attacking you. One of their methods of attacking is that they will shoot a missile at you. There is a chance that it can be a homing missile. To tell if it is, there will be smoke in the back of the missile. Run around and try to have it hit something. Its other method of attacking is that it will punch you if you are up close. Both attacks are very annoying and can do a lot of damage. 2 Super Shotgun or Rocket Launcher blasts will do the trick. First found in Level 7: Computer Station. In Doom II these can be first found in Level 36: The Crusher. Mancubus: Another fun enemy, which is one of my favorites. The bad news is that the fireballs it pumps out can hurt really badly on higher skill levels. The good news is that a Mancubus is fat, meaning it's a nice, big, wide target. It has two missile launchers on its arms and both of them shoot out 3 missiles at a time. They can be dodged pretty easily, but sometimes it can be tricky. Three shells from a Super Shotgun or 3 rockets from a Rocket Launcher will do the trick as usual. First found in Level 15: Spawning Vats. In Doom II, these are first found in Level 37: Dead Simple. Cyberdemon: My favorite enemy in the whole world of Doom. Cyberdemons are huge goat-like monsters, but they stand on two legs and walk around. One of their legs is metal, and on one of their arms is a Rocket Launcher, which has about the same amount of power as yours. The rockets can be dodged without a problem, and you can attack him by using your own rockets or a BFG. It should take anywhere from 2-4 shots to kill him. Also, his metal leg makes a sound when he walks, and it gets louder when he gets closer. This always scared the crap out of me. There is only 1 in the game, found in Level 23: Tower of Babel. Use a Rocket Launcher or better to take these down. Or, you can try having other enemies attacking him to weaken him. In Doom II, these are first seen in Level 38: Tricks and Traps. Spider Mastermind: Just like an Arachnotron, except bigger. A lot bigger. These are giant spiders with a huge brain that like to walk around. Instead of firing plasma cells at you, they have a Super Chaingun which is a lot more powerful. Even though it has that, it is still pretty week. It only takes about 2 or 3 BFG blasts to get rid of it, and not a lot of Rockets either. These do not appear at all in the Ultimate Doom levels and in Doom II they are found in the last level, Redemption Denied. ========== 3. Weapons ========== Fist: How could you possibly pick up a Fist? You will have your arms the whole time, but they are pretty weak. Only use this on weak enemies to spare ammo if you really need to, otherwise don't bother using your own iron knuckles. They are weak and useless. To change that around, grab the Berserk and this will become a really fun thing to use around with. With a Berserk, you can knock out almost any weak enemy in one hit, and a matter of a few punches on stronger enemies. Chainsaw: A fun weapon to use if you know how to use it correctly. For some weird reason, you will never run out of fuel to keep the Chainsaw going, but we'll take it! With a Chainsaw, you can run into enemies and try to cut them, but you'll have to get close. Now the best enemies to use a Chainsaw on is Demons and Cacodemons. Once you use it on these enemies, they will go down very fast. Also they will not be able to attack back because the Chainsaw will keep stopping them. Useful at times, especially if you need to spare ammo. First found in Level 2: Plant for the Ultimate Doom levels and Level 31: Entryway for the Doom II levels. Pistol: Just like the Fist, you will always have this with you, but this time ammo is limited. The kind of ammo this uses are clips. You can hold up to 200 bullets maximum, 400 with a backpack. The Pistol is pretty weak except on Zombiemen and Shotgun Guys, where they will go down in a few shots. Most of the time you will use this a lot in the early parts of levels until you get better weapons. Just use this on Zombiemen and Shotgun Guys. Nothing else and you should be fine. Shotgun: Before there was a Super Shotgun introduced into the Doom series, this was my favorite weapon. But it's still a pretty solid weapon for the early going. It can hold up to 50 shells, 100 with backpack. If you fire accurately, it can knock out Zombiemen, Shotgun Guys, and Imps within a few shots. You can use it on other enemies too, where it still takes a few shots to take down stronger enemies. Unless there is a better weapon around, use this because it's a great weapon. First found in Level 1: Hangar, and Level 31: Entryway in the Doom II levels. Super Shotgun: This is the best weapon in the game. No arguments about it. An awesome alternative to the Shotgun, and it is deadly if used right. Unlike the Shotgun, this weapon shoots out 2 shells at the time, and it takes a longer time to reload, so don't use this if you are low on shells. It can take out any weak enemy in 1 hit, and almost anything else in 3 direct hits. Also, its shells can knock out a huge group of enemies in one hit, so use this a lot when you see weak enemies in groups. This is only found in one level in the Ultimate Doom levels, which is Level 57: The Marshes, a new level in this game. It is found in Level 32: Underhalls in the Doom II levels. Chaingun: Something to replace that old, weak Pistol you have. This is the "machine gun" in Doom. It fires multiple bullets at a time and uses the same bullets as a Pistol. It can take out many weak enemies at a time and can stop Demons and Cacodemons from attacking you when you fire right at them, because they'll be stunned trying to attack. Use this against Demons and Cacodemons, and in large groups of weak enemies because they can go down pretty fast. First found in Level 1: Hangar (if the Heavy Weapon Dude is there on Ultra Violence), and level 33: The Gantlet for the Doom II levels. Rocket Launcher: Another one of my favorite weapons in the game. It can hold up to 50 rockets, and 100 with a backpack. It fires 1 rocket at a time and the damage can be awesome. If you fire it in the right spot, it can knock out a huge group of weak enemies in one hit, making lots of blood for you to see. Use this on ANY enemy, as it can take them down very quickly. The bad part about this weapon is that if the rocket explodes and you are extremely close to the explosion, you will lose health, and the amount lost depends on how far you are from the explosion. First found in Level 3: Toxin Refinery, and in Level 31: Entryway in the Doom II levels. Plasma Gun: Just like a Chaingun, except it fires blue cells instead of bullets. This is a fun weapon to play around with. It holds up to 300 cells, 600 with a backpack, and it also fires about multiple cells at a time. Use this on any enemy, as they will go down fast if you hold your fire button down. It can take down plenty of Zombiemen and Shotgun Guys at once, so have fun with it. A bad part would be if that you are too close to an enemy, the plasma cells may get in your right and you may not see what's in front of you. First found in Level 9: Deimos Anomaly, and in Level 35: The Waste Tunnels for the Doom II levels. BFG: The ultimate weapon in the game, but it has negatives to balance the positives. It uses the same cells as a Plasma Gun, and it can fires 40 cells at one time. The ball it makes explodes, damaging/killing any enemy on the screen, so you'll need to use this the right way. Do not use this on a single enemy, as it just wastes ammo. But you can still use it on any enemy, because it knocks out a Spider Mastermind or Cyberdemon with 2 perfect direct hits. First found in Level 11: Refinery in the Ultimate Doom levels and Level 38: Tricks and Traps in the Doom II levels. ======== 4. Items ======== There are many kinds of items in the game of Doom. I will divide them up into sections. ------------ Health/Armor ------------ Health Bonus: This adds 1% extra Health to your current health. With this, you can go past 100% health. Armor Bonus: This adds 1% extra Armor to your current armor. With this, you can go past 100% armor. Stimpack: This adds 10% health to your current health. You cannot go past 100% health using these. Medikits: Better than the Stimpacks. These add 25% health to your current health. You cannot go past 100% health using these. Green Armor: When you pick this up, this sets your armor to 100%. This will not work if your armor is greater than 100%. MegaArmor: This is the blue armor. When you pick it up, it sets your armor to 200%. Soulsphere: This increases your health by 100%. The maximum health you can have is 200%, so this is a really useful item. Only use it when you are low on health, but grab it when you really need it. MegaSphere: The best health item you can get. Once you pick it up, it sets both your health and armor to 200%! This is very useful, but if you are high on health, leave it where it is and come back to get it when you are about to exit the level. ---- Ammo ---- This is the ammo you can get throughout the game. It shows how much it gives on easy/hard skill levels, what weapon it is used for, etc. Use this table to find out the name of ammo used for each weapon. The "small ammo" is very little ammo that doesn't give you a lot. "Large Ammo" is ammo that comes in bigger amounts and is a lot more useful. |-------|------------|-----------------------| |Weapon | Small Ammo | Large Ammo | |-------|------------|-----------------------| | P/CG | Clip |Box of Bullets | |-------|------------|-----------------------| |SG/SSG |4/8 Shells |Box of Shotgun Shells | |-------|------------|-----------------------| | RL |Rocket |Box of Rockets | |-------|------------|-----------------------| |PG/BFG |Energy Cell |Energy Cell Pack | |-------|------------|-----------------------| P: Pistol SG: Shotgun SSG: Super Shotgun CG: Chaingun RL: Rocket Launcher PG: Plasma Gun BFG: BFG9000 Here is the amount of ammo each type gives out. ******************** Pistol/Chaingun Ammo ******************** Clip: Gives out 20 bullets on skill 1, 10 on harder skill levels. If you pick it up from a Zombiemen, it will give you 10 on skill 1, 5 on harder skill levels. Box of Bullets: Gives you 100 bullets on skill 1, 50 on harder skill levels. ************************** Shotgun/Super Shotgun Ammo ************************** Shotgun Shells: Gives you 8 shells on skill 1, 4 shells on harder skill levels. Box of Shells: Gives you 40 shells on skill 1, 20 on harder skill levels. ******************** Rocket Launcher Ammo ******************** Rocket: Gives you 2 rockets on skill 1, 1 on harder skill levels. Box of Rockets: Gives you 10 rockets on skill 1, 5 on harder skill levels. ******************* Plasma Gun/BFG Ammo ******************* Energy Cell: Gives you 40 cells on skill 1, 20 on harder skill levels. Energy Cell Pack: Gives you 200 cells on skill 1, 100 on harder skills. --------- Power-Ups --------- These are items that will be a big help to you throughout the game. They help you or protect you of some sort. Backpack: This is probably my favorite item in the whole game. When you pick it up, it doubles the amount of ammo you can carry! For example, the maximum amount of bullets you can carry is 200. With a backpack you can carry 400. Just take your maximum ammo and multiply it by 2. Berserk: Man, this is a really fun item right here. When you pick it up, it will set your health to 100% if it is below 100%. The second effect is that your screen will go red and it will power up your Fist! The red screen lasts for a few seconds, and this will remain in effect for the rest of the level. During this time, your Fist will become very powerful, and it will be able to knock out anything weaker than a Demon in one hit. It can knock out stronger enemies in just a few punches! Very useful to save ammo as well. Computer Area Map: Another useful item if you may happen to get lost. Once you pick this up, it will fill your Automap 100% so that you can see everything on the Automap! Areas that are in gray are areas that you have not visited yet. However, this will not add object indicators to the Automap (where you can see items and enemies moving around). Invisibility Sphere: This red orb is something that makes you invisible. While you are invisible, enemy attacks will be less accurate, and when they try to attack you, it may miss. But you won't be completely invisible, as enemies just have more difficulty spotting you. The other part is that this is on a time limit, and you will be invisible for a minute. Invincibility Sphere: Just the exact thing you'll need when you are in a hellhole. While you are invincible, your screen will go white. This effect lasts for 30 seconds. Also when you are invincible, you cannot be damaged in any way. This includes enemy attacks, crushing ceilings, and even slime pits. It just lasts for 30 seconds, and the white screen can be annoying. Radiation Suit: Something you will really need in levels with a lot of slime pits. When you pick one of these up, your screen will go green for a minute. During this time, you will not be hurt when you are walking around in slime, as this gives you protection from lava and slime. This effect lasts for a minute and you can still get hurt by enemies, even if you do have this on. Light Amplification Visors: A really, really, neat power-up. When picked up, the brightness greatly increases for 2 minutes, and then the screen will return back to it's normal brightness. These goggles are useful for getting pack dark areas/mazes. Yeah, this means every area in the level will be 100% bright as long as you have these on. ---------- Keys Items ---------- Keycard/Skull Key: These appear as normal keycards, or as a little skull. Keys are in 3 colors: Red, Yellow, and Blue. They open up the locked doors in the levels, which are Red, Blue, or Yellow (ex: If a door has blue bars to the sides of it, it is a Blue Door). ========== 5. Options ========== You can get to the Options by pausing the game and pressing Select or before you begin a new game. Also, use Up and Down to scroll through the Options. Music Volume: Use the Left and Right buttons to control the volume of the music. Sound Volume: Use the Left and Right buttons to control the volume of the sound effects. Password: If you beat a level, you can get a password on the Tally Screens and you can enter it if you want to play that level again with all your guns, health, armor, and ammo you currently had. Then enter in the password you get at the password prompt if you want to play the level again. Mouse: If you have a Playstation mouse, you can control the sensitivity of the mouse and which buttons do which. Control Pad: Use this to make the controls whatever you want (my controls section has the default setup). ===================== 6. Obstacles and Tips ===================== Well, this section is for stuff I did not know where to put in this FAQ. This section will include tips, obstacles through the game, and so on. First, let's start you off with the status bar, which is always there. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | |_____| | | 1 | 2 | 3 | | 45 | 67% | |(your | 43% |_____|____|____|_____ | | |-----| face) | |ARMS | | | | Ammo | Health |Keys | | Armor | | | 7 | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here's what each thing means: Ammo: Shows how much ammo you have left for the gun you are using. Health: Shows how much health you have left. Keys: These are where the keys appear on the status bar, Red, Blue, and Yellow, showing which ones you have. They can be keycards or skull keys. (Your face): This shows where damage comes from when you get hit, as your face will look in the direction where damage came from. As your health lowers, your face will start to be bleeding some more. Armor: Shows how much Armor you have left. Arms: Shows the weapons you have. Each number represents a weapon (1 is Fist/Chainsaw, 2 is Pistol, 3 is Shotgun, 4 is Super Shotgun, 5 is Chaingun, 6 is Rocket Launcher, 7 is Plasma Gun, and 8 is BFG). The numbers shown there are the weapons you have, and you don't have the ones that do not have a number. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Barrels: These can really help you in the game or be your worst nightmare. If you see an enemy next to one of these, you can shoot the barrel and it will explode, doing any damage to enemies near the barrel. If it explodes too close to you, you will be severely hurt or killed. Crushing Ceilings: These are found only in the Doom II levels. They obviously come down from the ceiling and try to crush you. If they do, they can hurt you really bad and kill you, depending on the speed of the crushing ceilings. Watch out for these and try to get past these as best as you can. Slime Pits: These can be anywhere from green or red ooze on the floor. If you step on this, you will start to list health at a steady rate until you get off the slime pit. The amount of damage taken depends on your armor and which slime pit it is, as some slime pits are programmed to do more damage than others. If you enter this with a Radiation Suit, you should be fine. **** Tips **** Some tips for the game: 1. Strafe around sometimes. This can make you go faster and it helps you dodge enemies when they try to attack you. 2. Try to save ammo. If you see one enemy hit another, the hit enemy may attack him back and they will start a fight. Instead of shooting, sit back and enjoy the fun. Note that most enemies cannot damage the enemy of the same type. Also this not only is fun, it saves your ammo. 3. Write down passwords often. This game does not save on a memory card. Instead, it uses passwords. You should write them down on a paper and you will be able to visit that level again when entering the password, with the same amount of health, ammo, and armor, and weapons (note sometimes they may round your health, ammo, and armor up or down). 4. Before exiting a level, look for leftover stuff. This includes ammo, health, weapons, and power-ups. This will also put you in better shape for the next level, and another good reason to do this at the end of a level is that most of the enemies should be dead and they shouldn't be there to annoy you. ============================== 7. Walkthrough (Ultimate Doom) ============================== Now, before you start to play Doom, you get options before you play: Episode: Use the Right and Left buttons to select which episode you want to play between Ultimate Doom and Doom. Skill Level: Use the Right and Left Buttons to modify the skill levels. From easiest to hardest, they go "I am a Wimp" "Not to Rough" "Hurt Me Plenty" and "Ultra Violence". --------------- Level 1: Hangar --------------- Your quest to save the two moon bases on Mars starts here. Once you start the level, kill the Zombieman across from you if you're playing on Ultra Violence. Now go through the opening to the left. In here, get the Armor at the top of the stairs and kill the Shotgun Guys if you're playing on skill 4, and then get their Shotguns. Now leave this room. Back in here, go through the opening to the left, and then follow this hallway to a door, and then open it and go through. In here, kill the Zombiemen across from you and knock out the Shotgun Guys if you're playing on skill 4. Now go through the opening at the other end of the room. If you're playing at Ultra Violence, there will be a Heavy Weapon Dude, so kill it and get the Chaingun. Now follow these stairs to a zig zag hall. Kill the Zombiemen and Imps here and then go through the opening at the other end of the room. In here, there is a door in front of you. Before opening, press the Circle button on the gray wall to the right and it will open like a door, so go through. In here, follow this hallway outside and knock out the Shotgun Guys on skill 4. Grab the health and ammo while you're at it. Out here, get the MegaArmor and then leave this room. Back in this small hall, exit this room. Now, open the door to your right and go through. In here, knock out the Imps and Zombiemen and head to the exit door. Before you open it, turn around and leave this room. Remember the platform with the Imps on it in here? It has lowered and revealed an opening, so go through. In here, get the Shotgun, the Shotgun Shells, and the Medikit, and then go back to the exit door. Open it and go through, collect the health, and then hit the exit switch. -------------- Level 2: Plant -------------- Once you start the level, head right and you will see a door. Instead, turn left. See that brown part of the gray wall to your left? Open it like a door and then go through. In here, get the backpack and hit the switch, and then leave this secret room. Back out here, there are two doors across from you. Open the one to the left and go through, knocking out all the Zombiemen. In here, head up the stairs and you will see an opening to your left, so head into it. Out here, there will be a ton of Shotgun Guys on the Ultra Violence skill. Kill all of them and then grab the Soulsphere and Chaingun in this room, and then leave. Now, head up the stairs. At the top, kill the Zombiemen and then grab the Red Key to the right. Once you do that, head back down the stairs to the door, open it, and leave this room. Back in here, kill the rest of the Zombiemen, and then open the red door at the other end of the room, and then go through it. In here, kill the Zombiemen and head up the stairs across from you. At the top, follow this pathway into an opening, and then go through it. In here, grab the Medikits, and go straight. The floor you're on will lower. Down here, mow all the Zombiemen and Imps down with your new Chaingun, and then hit the switch at the other end of the room. Two openings will be revealed, but go through either one. In here, head right down the stairs. At the bottom, open the exit door and go through. In here, mow everyone down with the Chaingun, and then hit the exit switch at the other end of the room. ----------------------- Level 3: Toxin Refinery ----------------------- Once you start the level, open the door in front of you and go through it. In here, wipe out all the Shotgun Guys, Zombiemen, Imps and Demons with your weapons, and then follow the left hall to a door. Once you get to it, open it and go through it. In here, shoot the barrel in front of you and it should explode, killing any enemies near it. From here, head up the stairs to the right. Up here, head down the stairs to the left. Down here, turn left. Shoot the barrel and when it explodes, a ton of enemies near it will be killed. Now hit the switch, and this will open a wall where the first barrel was. Go to the new opening. Before going in it, clean the area in front of you with a Chaingun or Shotgun to get rid of all the Shotgun Guys in front of you. Now, head up the stairs and listen carefully. You should here the sound of an elevator being dropped. Wait for it to rise and also, use this ASCII map to help: A1 A2|------------------------------------| | | | |-----| |---| |-----------| | | | |-------| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |-------------------------| | | | |-----------| |------------------| | | | X | Say the X is you. Doesn't look like a Military Base. Once you start the level, there will be a cage of Imps and barrels. Launch one Rocket into the cage and it should kill all of them. Now from where you started the level, follow the left hand wall to an opening. Once you get to the opening, kill the Zombiemen and Shotgun Guys in front of you, and then head down the stairs. Down here, kill all the Imps, Shotgun Guys and Demons, and then get the Yellow Key in the middle of the room. Once you grab it, turn around and head back up the stairs. Back up here, kill the rest of the Zombiemen and Shotgun Guys, and then go through the opening to your right. In here, head down the stairs. At the bottom, turn left and you will be facing a corner of this room. Walk up to it and the floor you're on will lower. Down here, get the Chaingun and health in the middle of the room, and then turn around and go back to the lift, and ride it back up to the room. Back in here, go through the opening to your left, and then head down the stairs. At the bottom, open the Yellow Door and go through. In here, one nice Rocket can take care of most of the enemies, and another gun can finish the rest off. From here, get the Red Key in the middle of the room. A wall will open in front of you, revealing some Shotgun Guys and Imps. A fresh rocket should take care of most of them, and a different weapon can knock out the rest. Get the Medikit and Stimpacks if you need them, and exit the room the way you entered. Back in here, open the Red Door at the other end of this room, and go through it. In here, take out most of the enemies with a simple rocket, and then take care of the rest. At the other end of the room is an opening, so go through it. In here, you will see a ton of Imps and Shotgun Guys across from you on Ultra Violence. One perfect rocket can get rid of all of them. For the Spectres, take them out with something else, and drop down to the pit below you. Down here, follow this hall and you will see a platform with an Imp on it, but be quick because the floor you're on is toxic. Once you see a platform, get on it and hit the switch. Now turn around and a wall behind you will open, so go through it. If it closes, go back to the platform and it will open again. Kill the Shotgun Shells, get all the items, and hit the switch. The lift on your right will lower, so get on it and ride it to the top. Now, go all the way right until you stop at a wall, killing all the Imps and Demons you see. Now go through the opening to the right and follow the left hand wall to a big room. In here, kill the Imps and Demons, get the Yellow Key, and then go through the opening and up the stairs. At the top, hit the switch, and then open the Yellow Door next to you. In here, get the Shotgun and the Box of Shotgun Shells. Now turn around and go through the opening to the right. In here, cross this bridge to the opening and go through it. In here, kill the Shotgun Guys and Imps and follow this hall to the Yellow Key. Once you get to the Yellow Key, turn around and leave this room. Back out here, drop down into the pit below you. While you are in this room, kill all the Zombiemen and Imps, and then hit the switch. Now turn around and head down the stairs in front of you. Down here, open the Blue Door in front of you, and go through. In here is a very dark hallway. Follow either right or left hand wall to the exit door, killing any Shotgun Guys or Spectres that you see, and be very careful. You can see where the Shotgun Guys are because they glow when they fire. Once you get to the exit door, open it and go through. In here, kill the Demons on high skill levels, and then hit the exit switch. --------------------------- Level 6: Central Processing --------------------------- Once you start the level, go through the opening in front of you. Once you get to two Red Doors, enter either one of them. Now, follow the hallway to an opening to your right/left (depending on which door you entered), killing any Shotgun Guys and Zombiemen in your way. Once you get to the opening, go through it. In here, kill the rest of the enemies and get the Blue Key. Now drop down to the slime pit below you. Down here, head right to the corner of the room and you will see a Radiation Suit. Grab it and then turn around. See that opening across from you? Go in it. In here, walk straight and the wall in front of you will lower, so get on it and ride it to the top. Up here, grab the Soulsphere and drop back down to the pit. Down here, go through the opening at the other end of the room, and collect the MegaArmor next to it. In here, follow this hall to a switch, collecting the Health and Armor Potions. Once you get to the switch, pick up the Box of Rockets and hit it and it will open like a door, so go through it, and you will be back at the level's starting point. Back here, open the door at the other end of the room, and go through it. In here, go through the opening to your right, killing any Imps in your way. Once you get to the opening, go through it. Back in here, get to the other end of this hall and flip the switch. The lift will lower, so get on it and ride it to the top. Up here, walk straight and the two doors will open, revealing two Barons of Hell. Tips: 1. There are a ton of Nightmare Spectres in this room. Kill them off before fighting the Barons because they are really annoying. 2. Use the Rocket Launcher on the Barons only because they are pretty strong. 3. Have the Nightmare Spectres fight them so they can be weakened and you'll need less ammo. 4. Lure the Barons of Hell to the barrels and shoot at them when they're right next to them. This can weaken them really bad. 5. There is a Soulsphere in the middle of the room the Barons came out of. Grab it when you can. In here, kill the Imps and Nightmare Spectres, and then hit the switch in this room. A pillar to your left will lower revealing a Plasma Gun, so grab it for extra ammo. Now get the Energy Cell Pack next to it and leave this room. Back out here, head left towards the Red Door, and then open it and go through it. In here, kill the Imps and turn right to follow this hallway to a switch. Once you get to the switch, hit it and a platform will raise across the slime pit in front of you, so cross it to the exit door. Once you get to it, open it and go through it. In here, kill the Shotgun Guys in front of you. Now follow the right hand wall to a staircase. Once you get to a staircase, head up it. At the top, go through the opening in front of you. In here, kill the Imps and Lost Souls in front of you, and then head to the door at the other end of the room. Once you get to it, open it and go through it. In here, open the door to your right and go through it. In here, turn left and kill the Lost Souls. Now you will see a switch to your right and left, which are both doors. Open the one on the left wall and go through it. In here, follow this hallway to a curved staircase. Once you get to it, head up it. At the top, follow the hallway to another switch which is a door, and then open it and go through it. In here turn left and you will see a HUGE group of Zombiemen. Use your BFG, Rocket Launcher, or Chaingun to make short work of them. Now get all of their clips and get the Box of Shotgun Shells behind them. Once you do that, turn around and follow this hall to a door. Once you get to it, open it and go through it. In here, open the door to your left and go through it. In here, kill the Lost Souls and Shotgun Guys, and then enter the door at the other end of the room (which is a switch). In here, kill the Imps and then head right. Go through the opening. In here, go through either opening to your right or left, and then follow it until you see the exit door, killing any Cacodemons or Pain Elementals in your way. Once you get to the exit door, open it and go through it. In here, hit the exit switch. ----------------------------- Level 14: Halls of the Damned ----------------------------- Once you start the level, go through the opening in front of you. In here, kill the Imp, grab the Rocket Launcher, and enter the door in this room. In here, kill the Demon and hit the switch in front of you, and then leave this room. Back out here, go back through the opening. In here, go through the new opening to your right. In here, head right and get past the slime pit and you'll be on a different platform. On here, hit the switch at the other end of the room and a floor will rise to your right, so use it to get to the Berserk. Once you grab it, turn around and you'll see the slime pit has replaced the platform, but there is a new opening to your left, so go through it. In here, follow this hallway to a switch, getting the Medikits you see. Once you get to the switch, hit it. Now turn back around and leave this room. Back out here, head left and go through the new opening to your left. In here, there is a Blue Door and another door. Open the door to the right and go through it. In here, kill the Zombiemen and Shotgun Guys, and then follow the left hand wall until you get to the Blue Key, killing any other enemies in your way. Once you get to the Blue Key, grab it. Now turn around and kill the Nightmare Spectres in front of you. From here, head right and you will get to two openings, and go through the one to the left. In here, follow this hallway until you stop at an opening (skip the one you see on the left). Once you stop at an opening, go through it. In this cool dark blue-ish room, you would see a flashing light in the back. Get to it, and from there, head left into the opening and you will get to a door. In front of the door is some ammo, so grab it, open the door in front of you, and go through it. In here, head down the hallway to the right. Once you come out of it, turn left and you will see an opening to your left. In here, grab the Red Key. Now, turn back around and get back to the door we used to get to this room, killing any Imps, Revenants, Shotgun Guys, or Spectres you see. Once you get back to the door, open it and go through it. Back in here, go through either opening and then head straight until you get to two openings that are about the same size, killing any Demons you see. Once you get to either opening, head through them and you should be out in the bright hall again. Back out here, head left and there will be three doors on the left wall. Ignore the first one and enter the second one. In here, kill the Zombiemen, Imps, and Shotgun Guys in front of you and head straight. You will see a door to your right, so open it and go through it. In here, go through the opening to your left. In here, open the door to your right, and go through it. In here, grab the Medikit, Backpack, Armor, and Yellow Key. Before the Lost Souls and Cacodemons attack, turn back around and leave this room. Back in here, open the same door to your right and go through. Back in here, open the door next to go and go through it. In here, turn right and follow the left hand wall until you stop at a door, killing any Demons or Barons of Hell in your way. Once you stop at a door, open it and go through it. In here, open the Blue Door to your right. In here, open the Red Door in front of you. In here, open the Yellow Door in front of you. In here, hit the exit switch. ----------------------- Level 15: Spawning Vats ----------------------- Once you start the level, open the door in front of you and go through it. In here, kill the Demon in front of you and then turn right. From here, follow this hallway until you get to an Invincibility Sphere, ignoring any doors or openings to your left or right, and killing any Shotgun Guys, Cacodemons, Imps, or Demons you see. Once you see the Invincibility Sphere, pick it up, and then go through the opening in front of you. In here, kill the Imps in front of you and get the Stimpacks and Shotgun Shells at the other end of the room. From here, go through the opening to the right. In here, follow this hallway until you get to an opening. Before going into the opening, kill all the Imps and Demons in front of you. And if you're playing on Ultra Violence, you'll meet your first Mancubus here. Kill it and then go through the opening to your right. In here are two small openings to your left and right and three in front of you. Now, enter the one in the middle in front of you. In here, you will be teleported. In here, kill the Demons in front of you. Once they're dead, walk up to the switch in front of you and you will hear the sound of a door being opened. From here, turn around and go back through the teleporter. Back in here, turn right and the opening to the left of the one you are in should have a switch. If the door closes before you can hit it, go back into the teleporter, walk up to the switch and try again. Once you can hit the switch, hit it. Now you will be taken to another secret level. ----------------------------- Level 55: Fortress of Mystery ----------------------------- This is one of my favorite secret levels to play. Once you start this level, you will be surrounded by 4 Barons of Hell. Kill all of them with whatever you got, but a Plasma Gun with plenty of ammo should be able to do it. Once they're all dead, you'll notice 8 openings in this room. Get the Shotgun, Chaingun, Rocket Launcher, Plasma Gun, Backpack, and Computer Map in each opening, and then head to the other opening where a door is in it. Once you get to the door, open it and go through it. In here, kill all of the Cacodemons in this room with all you got. If you seem to run out of ammo, grab the Box of Rockets, Energy Cell Packs, and Box of Shells in this room, and if you run out of health, grab the Medikits, Berserk and Soulsphere here as well. Once you kill all the Cacodemons, collect all the leftover health and ammo if you need them. Now from where the door to this room was, go all the way straight to the other end of this room. Once you stop at a wall, open it and go through it. In here, there is a switch to your left. Hit it to open up the door next to you to reveal a Blue Key. Grab it and then open the Blue Door. In here, get the Red Key. Now go open the Red Door. In here, get the Yellow Key. Now go open the Yellow Door. Back out here, kill any Demons and Barons of Hell, and you'll notice a new opening to your right, so go through it. In here, kill all the Demons and hit the switch, and then leave this room. Back out here, go through the new opening across from you which is next to the big opening to the right. In here, hit the exit switch. ------------------- Level 17: Hell Keep ------------------- Once you start the level, kill the Imp in front of you, open the door across from you, and then go through it. In here, kill the Cacodemon in front of you. Now open the door to your left and go through it. In here, open the door to your left and go through it. At the top, go through the opening to your right. In here, hit the switch and go back through the opening. In here, head right and now you can grab the Red Key. From here, turn back around, go back through the opening to your left, and drop down to the floor below you. Down here, head left and leave this room. Now open the door in front of you, and go through it. In here, head down the stairs to the right. Down here, there is a Red Door in front of you. Before entering it, turn right and you will see barrels. Destroy them because you'll be teleporting right where they are and you don't want to kill yourself. Now, go back, open the Red Door and go through it. In here, walk forward and a pillar will lower, revealing a teleporter so step into it. You will be teleported right where the barrels were. From here, head left and follow this hallway to the Blue Key. When you get to it, grab it and drop back down to the floor below you. Down here, head straight and go through the opening to your left. In here, head up the stairs. At the top, head left and then turn right and you will get to the Blue Door. Now open it and go through it. In here, kill the Imps in front of you, and then get the Yellow Key at the other end of the room. Now, turn around and you will see some doors open, revealing Imps and Cacodemons. Kill all of them and go through the opening to the right of the Blue Door, in here, hit the switch in front of you and it will open a door to the left, so go through it. Back in the level's starting point, open the Yellow Door at the other end of the room. Before entering it, get the Plasma Gun and Energy Cell Pack to your right. Now enter the Yellow Door. In here, hit the exit switch. --------------------- Level 18: Pandemonium --------------------- Once you start the level, kill the Demon, and then head up the stairs in front of you. At the top, kill the Imps and Hell Knights, and then head up the stairs to the left. At the top, head right and follow this pathway until you get to a lava pit. Once you get to a lava pit, drop down it. Down here, go through the opening in front of you. In here, get the Blue Key to your left, and then head down the stairs to the left. At the bottom, grab the Soulsphere, and then head back up the stairs into the lava pit. Back in here, follow the right hand wall to a BFG, and then grab it. Now follow this wall to a Medikit, and then to a second Soulsphere. Now, quickly get out of the lava pit because it does 20% damage to your health. Once you get out of the lava pit, drop down to the floor below you. Down here, go through the opening to your right. In here, head up the stairs to your left. At the top, kill the Imps and Demons, and then open the Blue Door to your right, and then go through it. In here, kill all the Imps and then go through the exit door to your left. In here, step on the exit teleporter. ----------------------- Level 19: House of Pain ----------------------- Once you start the level, get the Rocket Launcher, Armor, and Medikit, and then kill the Demon in front of you. Now step into the teleporter he was in front of. In here, turn right and you will see an opening across from you, so go through it (watch out for the Imps and Demons). In here, follow the right hand wall until you get to a large room of Lost Souls with the Blue Key in it. Kill all the Lost Souls and get the Blue Key at the other end of this room. Once you grab it, turn back around and leave this room. Back in the wide open, turn right and you will see another opening to your right, so go through it. In here, open the Blue Door at the other end of the room, and then go through it. In here, open the door at the other end of the room and go through it, killing any Demons or Cacodemons you see. In here, open the door to your left and go through it, killing any Demons. In here, use your BFG to clean sweep this room full of Zombiemen, Shotgun Guys, and Lost Souls. Once they're all dead, open the door at the other end of this room, and go through it. In here, kill the Imps and Demons and press Circle on the demon face symbol to open it like a door. In here, get the Soulsphere and the Red Key in the lava pit, and then leave this room. Back in this small room, leave it. Back in this big room, turn left and you will see a door, so open it and go through it. In here, fall in the small pit across from you to get the BFG. Now hit the switch to get back to the floor above you, and then leave this room. Back out here, open the door at the other end of the room, and go through it. In here, press Circle on the wall to the right and it will open like a door, so go through it. In here, get the Medikits, the Box of Rockets, the Energy Cell Pack, and then go back through the door. Back out here, open the door to your right and go through it to leave this room. Back in here, open the door to your right and go through it. Back in here, open the door at the other end of the room and go through it. In here, open the Red Door to your left and go through it. In here, head left and you will get to a door. Walk up to it and a wall will open to your right, letting out Demons. Kill them all. Now, to open the other door, see that tile next to the wall that opened? Facing the tile with the opened wall to your left, step in it and step out to the RIGHT. This should open both doors, if not, play around with the tile. Once you get to two doors opened, go through them. In here, follow this hallway to an opening, killing any Imps in your way. Once you get to the opening, go through it. In here, turn right and kill all the Imps in front of you. Now go straight into the large room across from you. In here, you will see a platform above you and an opening to your right. Go through that opening to get onto the platform. On here, kill the Barons of Hell and grab the Yellow Key, and then drop down to the floor below you. Before opening the Yellow Door, there is a new opening to your right. Kill the Cacodemons and Imps and go in it. Collect all the health and ammo. Also grab the Invincibility Sphere (I don't know why they would put one in at the end of the level), and leave. Back in here, open the Yellow Door at the other end of the room and go through it. In here, hit the exit switch. -------------------------- Level 20: Unholy Cathedral -------------------------- Once you start the level, open either door in front of you, and then go through either one. In here, turn left and follow this hallway to a wall. On the wall should be a star, which is a door, so open it and go through it. In here, step on the teleporter in front of you, and you'll be teleported to the middle of the "courtyard" you are in. In here, a door next to you will open, revealing a Baron of Hell. Kill it and get the Box of Shells and Invincibility Sphere in the secret room. Now, go back to the center of the courtyard. In each corner of this room there are 4-pad teleporter sets. One will get you out of here and the other 3 won't. The one that will get you out of here is the teleporter set in the northwest corner of this room. Use the Automap if you can't find it, and then step in it. In here, kill all the Demons in front of you. Once they're all dead, grab the Medikits if you need to, and you'll also note two doors at the other end of this room. One is to the right and one is on the left. Open the door to the right and go through it. In here, turn right and follow this hallway until you see a silver wall to the right. Next to the silver wall is a pillar with an opening through it. Walk through the pillar (the direction facing the door, not through your back facing the door) and the wall will lower, revealing an opening so go through it. In here, there is a switch in each corner of this room. Hit the switch in the top right corner and then go through the opening to the left. A platform with the Blue Key will now lower, so grab the Blue Key, turn around, head right, and leave this room. Back in here, kill the Baron of Hell to your right. With your back against the opening you just came out of, turn right and follow this hall and you will stop at a wall. It should have a star symbol on it, which is a door. Open it. There should be a 4-pad set of teleporters. Step on it and it should bring you to the room where all the Demons used to be. Back in here, open the door to the left instead of the right this time. In here, kill all the Imps and follow this hallway until you see a Blue Door to your left. Once you see it, open it and go through it. In here, open the exit door to your left and go through it. In here, step on the exit teleporter. -------------------- Level 21: Mt. Erebus -------------------- Once you start the level, head left and now cross the lava pit. At the end of the lava pit, there should be an opening (not crossing the lava) across from you. The opening should have a staircase. Walk up to that opening and then turn right. See that opening across from you? Walk up to it. Once you get to it, turn right and you will see a green wall across from you. Walk up to it and then turn right. Follow this wall to a door. Once you get to it, open it and go through it. In here, kill all the Zombiemen and Shotgun Guys in this room. Once they are all dead, turn left and face the walls. Look and you will see a small candle in front of the walls. That is a hidden door, so open it and go through it. In here is a teleporter, so step through it and you'll be teleported outside. Out here, there will be four openings to the building you're next to. One of the openings is a switch, so hit it and it will open a door to the building, so go through it. In here, kill all the Imps, Shotgun Guys, and Demons, and hit the switch at the other end of the room. Now turn around and you'll see parts of the wall has opened, revealing a Shotgun Guy, Imps, and the Yellow Key. Grab the Yellow Key and leave this room. Back out here, open the Yellow Door and go through it. In here is a teleporter, so step on it. You'll be teleported to a Y-shaped building. In here, turn around and follow this hall to two openings. Go through the one to your left and the wall in front of you will lower, revealing Imps and the Blue Key. Grab the Blue Key and turn around. Now go back to the other opening and hit the switch in front of you. From here, turn around and go through the opening to your left. In here, drop down to the floor below you. Down here, turn around, and follow the right hand wall until you see a lava pit to your right. Once you see the lava pit, enter it. In here, go through the opening to your right. In here, follow this hall to the Blue Door. Once you get to the Blue Door, open it and go through it. In here, open the exit door and go through it. In here, step on the exit teleporter. --------------- Level 22: Limbo --------------- Once you start the level, kill all the Shotgun Guys and Demons in front of you. Now head straight into the big room with the lava pit in the middle. In here, kill the rest of the Demons and then go through the opening to your left. In here, kill the Demons in front of you. Now head straight and go through the opening to your left. In here, follow the right hand wall until you see an opening. Once you see an opening, go through it. In here, there should be a red wall across from you at the other end of the room. Get to it and then turn left with the red wall and lava to your right and you should see the Blue Key across from you. Now, get to the Blue Key, and then pick it up. From here, leave this room (by the same way you went to getting to the Blue Key) to get back in the big circle shaped room with the lava pit in the middle. Back out here, go through the opening at the other end of the room. In here, there is a Blue Door to your left and right. Open the one to your left and go through it. In here, head straight and drop down into the lava pit below you. Down here, there is a staircase to your right. Use it to get out of the lava pit. Now you'll be on the other side of this room, so head straight and drop down to the platform below you. Down here, kill the Cacodemon in front of you and head straight onto the normal platform. Grab one of the Radiation Suits now. From here, get your back on the opening you just came out of and then go through the opening to the left. In here, head straight across the lava and you should get to another normal floor. Kill the Shotgun Guy in here and with your back out of the opening you came out of, grab a Radiation Suit and then go through the opening across from you. In here, follow the left hand wall until you get to a room with a Shotgun Guy, Radiation Suit, and the Red Key. Kill the Shotgun Guy, grab the Radiation Suit, and then get the Red Key. Now open the door in this room. It will reveal a switch, so hit it. Once you do that, turn around and leave this room. Back in here, go through the opening to your right and you will get to a teleporter. Step on it and you will be teleported across from where the Blue Key was. From here, get back to the Big "O" room by using the same path you used to the Blue Key. Back out in the Big "O" room, go through the opening to your left. In here, there is a pillar to your left and right. Each of them has a opening with a teleporter inside. Go into the left teleporter first. In here, you will be teleported next to a switch. Hit it and then drop down to the lava pit to your right. Down here, head straight up the stairs. At the top, kill the Shotgun Guys, Imps, and Zombiemen across from you, and then get the Yellow Key. Now, turn around and go through the teleporter. You will be teleported to the right pillar in the room with the two pillars. Get out of the pillar and then leave this room. Back in the Big "O" room, go through the opening to your right. Back in here, head straight and go through the opening to your left. In here, follow the right hand wall to an opening, and then go through it. In here, get to the lava across from you. On it, head right and you will get to another pillar. Inside it is a teleporter, so step on it. You will be teleported to a small room. Hit the switch to your right and then leave this room. Back in here, leave the pillar and get back to the big "O" room. From here, enter the teleporter in the pillar in the center of the room. You will be teleported to another small room. Open the Yellow Door in front of you and go through it. In here, hit the switch, leave the room, and go back to the teleporter. Back in here, leave the pillar and then go through the opening to your left. Back in here, follow the right hand wall to a lava pit. Go in it and go through the teleporter inside the pillar. In here, open the Yellow Door in front of you and go through it. In here, head straight and then open the exit door in front of you and go through it. In here, step on the exit teleporter. ------------------------ Level 23: Tower of Babel ------------------------ Oh boy, this is going to be a fun level. In the room of the level's starting point, there is a pillar with a switch on each of its four sides. Each switch raises a staircase to a wall. Walking up to the wall they rise to opens a door to the outside area, and there are 4 rooms for Ammo and Health. Before leaving the small room, grab the Mega Armor. In whatever room you are in, collect the Box of Rockets, Soulsphere (if there is one in your room) and then head outside to the big area. To beat this level, you must kill the Cyberdemon. On the Automap, he is located in the northwest corner, where you can go up to him and fight it. Also be careful that there are enemies here as well. If you are playing on skill levels 1 or 2, there will be no additional enemies here other than the Cyberdemon. If you are playing on skill level 3, there will be 4 Lost Souls in the outside area. If you are playing on skill level 4, there will be plenty of Lost Souls and Mancubi to accompany you. Now, here are some tips for fighting the Cyberdemon: 1. There are pillars scattered around this level. Use them for protection. 2. On harder skill levels, have the Lost Souls and Mancubi weaken the Cyberdemon by having them hit the Cyberdemon and this will cause the Cyberdemon to fight back with them. 3. If you happen to run out of ammo, there are 4 rooms in each side of the map. 2 have a Soulsphere, 1 has a Rocket Launcher, and all 4 have Boxes of Rockets in them. 4. Use L1 and R1 to dodge the Cyberdemon's rockets. This will make the fight more fun and less scary if you are new to this game. 5. The Rocket Launcher and the Boxes of Rockets here should be more than enough to take him down. If not, use the remaining of your bullets, cells, and Shells. BFG should have enough in it. 6. In each corner of the map, there is a small hole between the pillar and the wall. You could use a Shotgun or a Chaingun to fire through the holes at the Cyberdemon if he is on the other side without you being hurt. Using these tips you should be able to kill the Cyberdemon without a problem. Once you kill him, a brown wall will open near where the Cyberdemon started out in this level, revealing the exit teleporter. Before exiting the level, grab any leftover Rocket ammo to max out your ammo supply, grab any additional health you may have left, and then step on the exit teleporter. ---------------------- Level 24: Hell Beneath ---------------------- If you've never played Ultimate Doom on the PC, these are the episode 4 levels so you can experience how hard they are. Once you start the level, go through the opening in front of you, and then step back. This will teleport all the Shotgun Guys, so kill them using the walls for protection. Once they are all dead, go back through the opening. Now head down the stairs to your left and into the opening in front of you. In here, turn right and kill the Imps. Now hit the switch at the other end of the room, and this will lower a wall next to you, revealing an opening. Get to the opening and then kill the Spectres in front of you. Once you do that, go through the opening and head straight. You should see a river of slime below you. Drop down to it and head right. Follow this "river" until you see an opening to your left. Once you see the opening go through it. In here, kill the Imps and Shotgun Guys in front of you, and then head up the stairs. At the top, kill the Imps and Shotgun Guys, and then grab the Red Key to your left. Now, watch out for any teleporting Shotgun Guys or Barons of Hell. Once you got the Red Key, head back the stairs. Facing the opening leading out to the slime river, turn right and lower the lift in front of you. Now get on it and ride it to the top. Up here, get on the platform in front of you. Now head straight, open the Red Door across from you, and then go through it. In here, kill the Imps and then walk around either side of the pillar to get the Blue Key. Once you get the Blue Key leave this room. Back out here, go back through the opening across from you. In here, grab the Armor and Medikit to your right if you need them, and then go through the next opening. In here, turn right and follow this walkway until you see a Blue Door to your right, killing any Shotgun Guys or Demons. Once you see the Blue Door, open it and go through it. In here, step on the exit teleporter. ------------------------ Level 25: Perfect Hatred ------------------------ Once you start the level, kill the two Shotgun Guys next to you. Now, kill the Demon and look straight. You will see two staircases leading to gaps and a platform across from them. Before you get near them, kill all the Imps, Demons, and Cacodemons across from you. Once they're all dead, get in front of the staircase on the left. Now, back up and RUN up the staircase over the gap to get onto the platform across from you. On here, hit the switch to your right and turn around. Part of the wall will be opened, so jump through it. In here, kill the Shotgun Guys and Imps and drop down to the lava pit below you. Down here, kill the Imp, grab the Stimpacks, and get in front of the switch. Before hitting the switch, turn right. This is where you need to run. Now hit the switch and RUN right to the rising platform before it rises too high. On here, turn right and follow this bridge to a small gap. Run over it. On here, pick up the Plasma Gun and a wall will open, revealing a Hell Knight. Kill it and grab the Energy Cell Pack and Yellow Key. Once you grab both, turn back around and drop down to the pit below you. Down here, go through the new opening. In here, head up the stairs. At the top, kill the Imps, Hell Knights, and Shotgun Guys, and then go through the opening in front of you. In front of you should be a teleporter. Before opening it, press Circle on the walls to the left until a hidden door opens. In here, grab the Berserk and the Energy Cell Pack, and then leave this secret room. Back in here, enter the teleporter to your left and you'll be teleported back to the level's starting point. Back in here, get to the right staircase and RUN across it over the gap. Now, have your BFG handy, and hit the switch to your left (which requires the Yellow Key to do so) and turn right. The platform will open, revealing Lost Souls and Hell Knights. Two BFG shots will make quick work of them. Once they're all dead, RUN across the gap to get onto the platform they're on. On here, turn right and face the gray wall. You should see an opening, so get in front of it and RUN across the gap to get into it. In here, head right and drop down to the floor below you. Down here, go straight to the other end of the room, killing any Spectres, Cacodemons, or any Hell Knights that you see. Also pick up the Energy Cell Packs when you see them. Once you get to the other end of this room, head up the stairs. At the top, kill the Lost Souls in front of you and then go through the opening to the left. In here, kill the Hell Knight and grab the Blue Key. Now go back and enter the teleporter to the left. You'll be teleported back to the level's starting point. Back at here, get in front of the left staircase. Now back up and RUN across it. On this platform, head straight and RUN across the gap. On this platform, destroy the barrel and open the Blue Door it was blocking. Now, head up these stairs. At the top, kill the Hell Knight to your left and walk up to the door in front of you. It will open, revealing Cacodemons, so kill all of them. But before going through it, turn around and head back down the stairs. Down here, enter the new teleporter to your left. You'll be teleported to where the Hell Knight was. Pick up the BFG and hit the switch to lower the lift. Now, get out, gall in the gap to your right, and RUN, following the right handed wall to a new opening, revealing a Soulsphere and a MegaArmor. If you can't get to them, get to the other end of this room, head through the opening, and try again. Once you get to the secret room, pick up both items. From here, leave this room and head right to the level's starting point. Go through the opening to your left and head up the stairs. At the top, kill the Imps and turn right. You'll be back at the level's starting point, so get to the other end of the room past the Blue Door again. Back up here, go through the opened door now. In here, get the Energy Cell Packs and hit the exit switch. -------------------------- Level 26: Sever the Wicked -------------------------- Once you start the level, head straight and drop down to the floor below you. Down here, kill the Shotgun Guys and then head down the stairs in front of you. Down here, clean this room up with your BFG that is filled with Shotgun Guys and Imps. Once they're all dead, head up the stairs to your left. At the top, follow this hall to a door. Once you walk up to it, you should hear the sound of a door opening. Turn around and go through the new opening. In here, grab all the items and ammo, and then leave. Back in here, open the door in front of you and go through it. In here, kill the Imps and Shotgun Guys around you. Now head straight and drop down into the lava pit below you. Down here, go through the opening in front of you. In here, turn around and hit the switch on the pedestal. It will lower the pillar in front of you. Kill all the enemies on it and then get the Red Key. Once you do that, Turn back around and go through the opening again. In here, go through the opening to your right. In here, turn right and you should see a wall in between two torches, which is a secret door. In here, head up the stairs in front of you. At the top, go through the opening to your right. In here, kill the Imps, grab the Boxes of Shotgun Shells, get the Soulsphere, and head back down the stairs and leave this room. Back in here, turn left and go through the teleporter to your right. You'll be teleported to a small room. Kill the Spectre in front of you. Now, lower the lift in front of you. Instead of going on it, walk through it into the opening across from you. In here, head all the way straight until you stop at a wall, killing any Shotgun Guys or Spectres in your way. Once you stop at a wall, go through the opening to your left. Now follow this hallway until you get to a staircase. Once you get to a staircase, head up it. At the top, head up the stairs to your right. Back in the level's starting area, head straight and you will see a brown platform sticking out from the platform above you, which is a different color than the wall. This is a lift, so lower it, get on it, and ride it to the top. Up here, open the Red Door in front of you and go through. In here, head straight and go through the opening across from you, killing the Shotgun Guys and Barons of Hell in front of you. In here, there is a Blue Key behind one of the pillars in front of you, so pick it up when you see it. Once you find it, leave this room, crossing onto the opposite platform again. Back over here, head left and drop down to the floor below you. Down here, drop down to the lava pit to your left. Down here, there is a Red Door in the corner of this room, so open it and go through it. In here, head left and head up the spiral staircase. At the top, kill the Imps and Shotgun Guys, and then open the Blue Door and go through it. In here, collect the health and ammo, and then step on the exit teleporter. --------------------- Level 27: Unruly Evil --------------------- Once you start the level, open the door in front of you and go through it. In here, get the Shotgun Shells, kill the Imps, Demons, and Spectres, and from the door, get to the other end of the room. Over here, lower the lift in front of you, get on it, and ride it to the top. Up here, turn left and follow this hallway until you stop at a green torch, killing any Imps in this hall. Once you get to a green torch, press the Circle button on it and the floor you're on will lower. Down here, go through the opening to your left and kill the Shotgun Guys. Now get their Shotguns, grab the Berserk, and go through the teleporter to your right. Out here, kill the Imps to your right and left. Grab the health to the left and turn around. You should see a door across from you, so open it and go through it. In here, kill the Demons and get to the other end of this room. Over here is a Soulsphere and an Invincibility Sphere. Grab them both and then step through the teleporter. Back here, turn right and follow this hallway until you stop at a wall. There should be a lift to your left, so lower it, get on it, and ride it to the top. Up here, kill the Demons and Shotgun Guys. You'll notice there are two openings to your right. Go through the one to the left of the Red Door to the right. In here, grab the Red Key. From here, go to the Red Door, open it, and go through it. In here, kill the Shotgun Guys to your left and right. Once they're all dead, hit the switch on the wall to the right. Now turn left, and you'll see a lift has lowered, so get on it and ride it to the top. If you can't get to it, try again. Up here, go through either teleporter to your left or right. Once you teleport, you'll be on either one platform where the Shotgun Guys were. Collect their Shotguns and hit the switch next to you. Once you do that, step down to the floor below you. Back down here, hit the switch, get on the lift to the left, and ride it to the top. Up here, go through the teleporter you DIDN'T go through the first time. In this spot, collect the Shotguns and hit the switch. Now drop back down to the floor below you. Down here, hit the switch and get back on the lift to your left, and then ride it to the top. Up here, ignore the Cacodemons in front of you and try to step on the exit teleporter. ------------------------ Level 28: Unto the Cruel ------------------------ Once you start the level, kill the Imps in front of you and face the wall left of the staircase. On this wall you will see a body being hung from the wall on the left and a dead body stuck on the pole to the right. Get on the dead body hanging from the ceiling and press Circle to activate it like a switch. Now the wall to your left will lower, revealing a secret room, so go through it. In here, collect the Chaingun, Boxes of Bullets, and Medikits, and then leave this secret room (if the wall rises, use Circle to lower it again). Back in here, head down the stairs in front of you. At the bottom, hit the switch on the right to open the door next to you, and then go through it. In here, use a BFG or a Chaingun to clean up this room full of Shotgun Guys and Zombiemen. Once they are all dead, turn right and follow this pathway until you stop at a wall. On this wall is a demon shaped head. This is a door. Open it and go through it. In here, get the Rocket Launcher and the Red Key and then leave this room. Back on here, follow this walkway to another wall with a demon head symbol on it. Once you get to it, open it like a door and go through it. In here, step on the teleporter. You'll now be teleported to this big room. Kill the Imps and Shotgun Guys in front of you and then head up the stairs in front of you. At the top, go right and you will get to another staircase. Once you get to it, head down it. Down here, you will be surrounded by pillars. Each of them has a nice item on them, including a Backpack, Energy Cell Pack, Light Amplification Goggles, Soulsphere, and Boxes of Shotgun Shells. Each pillar can be lowered by pressing the Circle button. Lower all of the pillars and get the goodies on them. Once all of them are gone, head back up the stairs. Back up here, follow this pathway and go all the way straight until you hit a wall, killing any Spectres or Cacodemons you see. Now, head down the stairs to your left. Down here, go through the opening in front of you. In here, kill the Shotgun Guys and turn right. You should see a switch. Hit it and the floor to your left will lower, so drop down it. Down here, follow this hallway until you get to the Yellow Key, killing any Demons, Cacodemons, and Shotgun Guys in this hall. Once you get to the Yellow Key, pick it up and then turn around. You will see a staircase to your left, so head up it. At the top, kill the Shotgun Guys in here, Now head down the staircase in this room, and down here, collect the Soulsphere. From here, step on the teleporter next to you and you'll be teleported next to the pathway near the start of the level. You will be in front of a building. On the side of it is a Yellow and Red Door. Open one of them and go through it. In here, kill the Cacodemon and hit the switch. Now go to the other door you didn't open and open it. In here, kill the Cacodemon and hit the switch. Now leave this small room and you should see a new walkway crossing the lava pit. At the end of it, head up the stairs. At the top, open the door in front of you and go through it. In here, there are plenty of Hell Knights on the other side of that pillar. You must kill them all to win. Here are some tips: 1. If they are attacking you in groups, 2 or 3 shots from your BFG should take care of them. Otherwise attack with Shotgun, Chaingun, and Plasma Gun. 2. Use the pillars and openings for protection if you need it. 3. If you run out of ammo, there are openings to the left and right of the pillar. Each of them has a staircase that lead up to a Rocket Launcher on one side and a Plasma Gun on the other, with their ammo types respectively. 4. There is also a hidden BFG in this area. With your back on the door, get on the other side of the pillar. Now, press Circle on the walls in front of you until you find a hidden door, revealing Energy Cell Packs and a BFG. 5. If you are low on health or armor, there are two pillars in this room. Once has a MegaArmor and the other has a Soulsphere. Use Circle to lower the pillars if you need to. Once you kill all the Hell Knights, the pillar in the middle of the room will lower, revealing the exit teleporter. Once you collect the leftover health and ammo, step on it. Time to play some Doom maps not found in the PC version. --------------------------- Level 29: Twilight Descends --------------------------- Welcome to the first map not found in a PC Doom game. Once you start the level, go straight and you will see a staircase, so head up it. At the top, open the door in front of you and go through it. In here, you will be in a room full of crates and Imps. Kill them all and near the other end of the room, one of the brown crates will have a switch on its side. Once you find the switch, hit it, and then a crate across from you will have stairs rising to it. Use them to get on top of the crate. On here, run onto the crate to your right, and use the crates to get to the other end of the room where all the Zombiemen and Shotgun Guys are. Once you get to where they are, kill them all, and drop down to the floor they were at. Down here, you will see a Blue Key on a crate. To the left of it is a small crate with Shotgun Shells on it. Step on it to lower the crate with the Blue Key and then get on it. On here, grab the Blue Key, and once the crate rises, hit the switch next to you. From here, a wall to your left will lower, revealing a teleporter so step on it. You'll be teleported to a crate at the other end of the room. Drop down to the floor below you, open the door at the other end of the room and go through it. Back out here, head down the stairs in front of you. At the bottom, open the Blue Door to your left and go through it. In here, kill the Imps and Cacodemons in front of you, and then head up the stairs. At the top, kill all the Imps in front of you behind their cages. From here, go through the opening to the left of where you came from and go through it. In here, kill the Shotgun Guys above you and then get to the platform. Now lower the lift in front of you, get on it, and ride it to the top. Up here, open the door to the right of the Red Key (which you can't get right now) and then go through it. In here, head down the stairs to the right. While heading down the stairs, you will see a torch to your left. Across from this torch is a wall. Open it like a door and then go through it. In here, follow this hall to a big room full of Imps. Once you get to it, kill all of them and then hit the switch in this room. Now, a wall to your left will lower, revealing an opening so go through it. You will be behind the cage full of Imps. Kill any you did not kill and then follow this path until you see a switch to your left. Once you see it, hit it, and then leave this room. Back in here, follow the hall back to the door, open it, and then go through it. In here, head down the rest of the stairs to your right. Down here, hit the switch on the other side of the pillar in front of you. From here, turn left, and follow the right hand wall until you see a dark wall to your right (will be different color from the other walls). Once you see it, it is a lift, so lower it, get on it, and then ride it to the top. Up here, kill all the Shotgun Guys and hit the switch to your left. Now turn around and drop back down to the floor to your right. Down here, turn right and kill the Demons and Cacodemons. Now, hit the switch across from you and it will complete the lift next to this switch so lower it, get on it, and ride it to the top. Up here, head up the stairs. At the top, get the Red Key to your left (you must hit all 4 switches I mentioned, the one behind the Imp cage, the one above the lift and the one behind the pillar, and the one next to this lift). Now, drop down to the floor below you. Down here, head right and drop down to the floor below you. Back down here, go through the opening to your right and leave this room. Back out here, head right and you will get to three Red Bars. This is the Red Door, so open it and go through it. In here, kill the Imps in the cage to the left and pull out a BFG or Rocket Launcher. At the other end of the room is a pillar with Barons of Hell on them. Shoot them until they're all dead before you think of getting on that pillar. Once they're all dead, head up the stairs to the right, killing the Shotgun Guys. At the top, turn left and you will see an opening leading to the slime pit below you and to a higher platform. Back up and RUN through the opening to get onto the platform. On here, turn left and head up the stairs. At the top, the Barons of Hell should be all dead and there will be a pillar with the Yellow Key on it. Hit the switch to lower the pillar and grab the Yellow Key. Now, drop back down to the slime pit to your left. Down here, a wall will lower, revealing an opening. Go through it. In here, kill the Spectres and Barons of Hell. Once they're all dead, go through the small opening in front of you. Now, in this small hall (this is the 2nd of 4 similar halls in this room), press Circle on the walls to the right until you find a hidden door that opens. Once you find it go through it. In here will be a room with flashing red lights. Head through the left opening and you will get to a group of Imps. Kill them all and you will notice an opening with a Plasma Gun is. REMEMBER WHERE IT IS. From here, turn around and get to the other end of the room. Over here, turn left, kill the Baron of Hell and you will see three red torches. The middle one is a switch, so activate it and RUN BACK TO THE OPENING WITH THE PLASMA GUN IN IT. If you were quick enough, you will see a pit, if not, it will be raised again. This is really hard to pull off and takes a lot of practice to do, but once you get it, drop down to the floor below you. Down here, you will be in a thin room with a teleporter. Step on the teleporter and you will be taken to the secret exit. Hope you got plenty of ammo entering this level. --------------------- Level 57: The Marshes --------------------- I really hope you have a lot of ammo entering this level, or you'll need to use what's here. And yes, there is a Super Shotgun in this map, the only one found in the Ultimate Doom maps. Once you start the level, grab the two Shotguns, the Boxes of Shotgun Shells, and then hit the switch in this room. There is an exit door here, but it cannot be opening and you have to beat the Cyberdemon to open it. Once you hit the switch, the wall in front of you will lower, revealing the outside part of this map. Now, using your Automap will become really handy. From here, turn right and you should see the "woods" with a lot of trees and dead bodies. In that woods is the Super Shotgun, Armor, Light Amplification Goggles, and a Backpack. Now, grab all of them and the Cyberdemon should spot you. You can kill it right now or if you need ammo, I will guide you to some of the good buildings. From here, get back to the building you started the level in. With your back against the opening leading outside, go all the way straight and you will stop at a ledge. From here, go left until you see a staircase leading to a building on the left. Once you see the staircase, head up it into the building. At the top, get the Chaingun and the Box of Bullets in front of you. From here, head left and you will get to a switch. Hit it. Now, you know that higher platform surrounding this whole level? This switch creates a staircase to the higher platform across from this building where you are facing. Before going there, jump over to the gap to your right. In front of you is a Plasma Gun and another switch. Hit it and it will lower a lift on the building in front of you. Get to the building and ride the lift to the top. Up here, grab the Boxes of Rockets and the Rocket Launcher. Now, remember where that new staircase I told you about was? Get to it. On this higher platform, follow this ledge to an opening. In the opening is a BFG, so grab it. Ok, this should be more than enough to kill the Cyberdemon. If you haven't killed him yet, unleash all your ammo at him, including Bullets, Shells, Rockets, and Cells. Here are some tips to take him down. 1. If you are in the woods, use the trees for protection. It is very unlikely he will hit you there, as his rockets will hit the trees. 2. Go inside buildings for protection, especially the higher ones. 3. If you are fighting him on the ground, strafe to dodge his rockets. Otherwise, use the walls of buildings for protection. 4. Have the few enemies in this level fight him to weaken him. One of the key tips you should always know. Once you kill him, the exit door in the level's starting room will open. It is located near the middle of the map. Once you find it again, go in it. Now go through the exit door, and in here, hit the exit switch to the right. --------------------------- Level 30: Threshold of Pain --------------------------- Congratulations. Once you get to it, head up it. At the top, drop down the gap to your left. Down here, head up the stairs to your left. At the top, go up the same staircase to your left. Down here, head up the stairs to your left and collect the Boxes of Rockets at the top. Now turn around and kill the large group of Hell Knights across from you, and once they're all dead, go all the way straight to the other side of the room and then hit the switch. This will open a door near the staircase, so go back and go through the new opening. In here, get the Blue Key and then drop down to the floor to your left. Down here, kill the Demons and Spectres in this room, and then go through the opening to your left. In here, follow the left hand wall until you get to a teleporter, killing any Imps in your way. Once you get to the teleporter, step on it. You will be teleported onto a platform with a Megasphere and Hell Knights. Kill the Hell Knights and get the Megasphere, and then drop down to the floor below you. Down here, drop down the gap to the right. Down here, head up the stairs to the left. At the top, head up the stairs to the left. A wall will lower revealing an opening, so go through it and land on one of the platforms. Back on here, get on the platform where the Invisibility Sphere. On here, open the door (which is the wall) and go through it. In here, open the Red Door across from you and go through it. In here, head straight and drop down to the floor below you.
